The Latch Hook Covered Bridge project as of February 10, 2025

No, I didn’t watch the Super Bowl yesterday.

I have no desire to watch Kansas City. And I have even less desire to watch Philadelphia. And even with all that, I have absolutely ZERO desire to see that orange turd soak up all the attention at the game.

Could I watch the game for the commercials? Nah, all the commercials are on YouTube right now.

Could I watch the game for the halftime show? Yeah, maybe if next year they let “Weird Al” Yankovic do the halftime event. I’d be fine with that.

Actually, I spent the day in peaceful respite. I worked on this latch hook rug of mine, because if I want to get this thing done in time for Competition Season 2025, I can’t procrastinate. No sirree.

Here’s where I stood a few weeks ago on this project.

And after much effort and lots of patience … I’ve hooked all the way up to the top of the canvas, and started work on raising the third column of this textile project.

Take a lookie.

So now you can see the full definition on the trees in the background, which I want. And you can see the gradients on the ground below. See how well this works?

However, there’s one thing I must do before I can continue on this.

I have to lock these strands.

That means painting this substance on the back of the canvas. Once that substance dries, the threads will be locked in place and won’t come out from wear and/or tear.

So while so-and-so scored a touchdown for one of the teams yesterday, I was painting the back of my canvas with this goo.

Oh, and just a warning – this goo STINKS TO HIGH HEAVEN!!! Trust me, this stuff smells awful, and the only way the smell stops is when this compound dries.

But once this slop is applied, my rug will stay strong and last for a very long time.

I’ll keep you updated as I progress on this. 😀
